What is Cranio Sacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

What is it? How does it work?

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that uses light pressure and guided focus to help support the body with issues. It works with the body’s natural fluid rhythms to support the nervous system and encourage balance. It is based on the understanding that the brain, spinal cord, and surrounding tissues are central to health, and that subtle changes in these structures can influence how the whole body functions.

What happens during a session?

During a session, fully clothed and on my treatment couch, in my clinic, I use a light touch to listen to the body’s patterns and ease restrictions in the connective tissues and fluid around the brain and spinal cord. These restrictions can arise from stress, injuries, or long-term tension, and may affect how the body regulates itself. By supporting the nervous system in releasing strain, CST can promote relaxation, improve body awareness, and create conditions that support the body’s own healing processes.

Who would benefit from Cranio?

Clients often seek craniosacral therapy for stress-related issues, headaches, muscle tension, and general well-being, many people describe feeling calmer, more balanced, and more connected to their bodies after sessions. Think of a computer program always running in the background, personally i think of this therapy as an mot for the body, helping everything work better and with a greater sense of presence and ease.

I personally love this therapy, especially my work with babies and children. Life causes a build up stress and tension that can be formed as early as the womb, the younger the child the more opportunity there is to correct the flow of csf and stop these patterns from becoming ‘normal’ in the system.

I treat children that have had difficulties in birth or after, children who are showing an inability to go into a deep state of rest and digest or children that seem detached and not quite present.
